CENTRAL CATH

Central Cath (Central Venous Catheter): The Central Venous Catheters are short term venous systems, projected for both continuous and discontinuous use, intrahospital, made with high biocompatibility materials, with a calibre that generally is between 3 and 9 French (Fr), which can be inserted inserted by direct puncture of the internal jugular, or sub clavian, or femoral vein..
The tip of Central Venous Catheter is normally positioned in the last part of vena cava, close to the right atrium.
The Central Venous Catheters (CVC) can be used for:

• The infusion of hypertonic solutions;
• Administration of basic (pH> 9), acids (pH <5) or vesicants or irritants drugs on the endothelium;
• For blood transfusion and / or blood deriva- tives) for Fr> 4;
• For repeated samples for Fr> 4;
• For palliative care;
• For measuring PVC
